About The Position

BiOrigin Specialty Products is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic II at its paper mill in East Hartford, Connecticut. The role is hands-on and involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing machines and equipment throughout the mill to support its operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3–5 years of multi-skill millwright/mechanic experience; paper mill maintenance experience is desirable but not necessary.
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Willingness and ability to work 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday, participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation and rotating weekends, and work overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of standing for long periods; walking; using hands and arms to handle, feel, or reach; climbing; squatting; bending; balancing; stooping; kneeling; crouching; and/or crawling in confined spaces.
• Must pass pre-employment screening, a drug screen, a physical, and criminal background screening.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and maintain mill piping and related pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, including gauges, valves, and pressure regulators.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mill machinery and equipment.
• Clean, lubricate, and repair bearings, gears, shafts, and other machinery components.
• Operate maintenance tools, including lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines, to repair and fabricate machine parts, jigs, and fixtures.
• Maintain and troubleshoot electronics, including drives and PLCs.
• Rig rolls and equipment.
• Operate welding equipment, cutting torches, and plasma cutters; perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
• Fabricate parts or components from blueprints, drawings, or verbal concepts.
• Work with pumps ranging from chemical metering pumps to large centrifugal pumps.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by management.
