About The Position

To set up, adjust, repair and maintain various packaging machines, support equipment, system equipment, and perform facility repairs in a USDA/FDA production environment.

Requirements

Must adhere to all food safety and personal safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

Applicable technical certification is preferred.
Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills are preferred.
Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills are preferred.
Food Manufacturing or packaging experience is preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred.
Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure “Safety First” is always practiced and observes and adheres to all job safety rules.
Adhere to all safety procedures including Machine Guarding, LOTO, IIPP, etc.
Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.
Put together preventive maintenance reports.
Tests equipment to check operation. Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
Examines, tests, and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms. Checks product for visual defects.
Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action. Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report.
Assists line operators and packers and service personnel, such as lift truck operators as needed.
Notifies maintenance manager or supervisor and lead mechanic of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.
Will conduct preventative maintenance as scheduled.
May operate equipment during relief periods.
Abide by ALL Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SOPs.
Responsible for reporting Food Defense observations to Quality Teams.
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
