About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic Engineer is responsible for providing service and repairs to various hotel equipment and systems. This role requires the ability to follow proper procedures, perform technical repairs, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. The engineer must also conduct themselves professionally, maintain good working relationships, and respond effectively to emergencies and guest requests.

Requirements

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Four (4) years technical training and field experience as a mechanic.
  • Some background with laundry, HVAC and Kitchen Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service and repairs for electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC, refrigeration, interior, paint, and decorating issues.
  • Lubricate machinery on a regular basis.
  • Perform machinist work, including replacing and repairing bearings, gears, belts, shafts, and control mechanisms.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other employees.
  • Handle and report any accident immediately.
  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Perform other tasks or projects assigned by hotel management and staff.
  • Maintain and re-lamp all lamps in the hotel, including socket repair and replacement.
  • Install electrical wiring for renovations, electrical outlet additions, motors, and associated equipment.
  • Provide preventive maintenance of all electrical equipment and update appropriate logs.
  • Clean all stations in Engineering and maintain a neat and organized department.
  • Adjust and clean televisions.
  • Respond to all guest complaints regarding the maintenance of their room or public areas in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Assist on all plumbing stoppages in the building.
  • Repair an assortment of items brought to the shop by other departments.
  • Clean grease traps, filters, and drains as necessary.
  • Assemble desks, shelving, cabinets, etc. as assigned.
  • Assist engineers on major shutdowns for repairs.
  • Assist guests with special requests such as opening luggage when keys are lost.
  • Maintain logs for all work performed while on duty.
  • Install or relocate any addition or existing equipment when necessary.
  • Treat urinals with de-liming solution.
  • Take meter readings, record temperatures and pressures in heating and cooling plant.
  • Check all mechanical rooms.
  • Clean gas burners and charcoal burners.
  • Clean fixtures and shades.
  • Unplug toilets and change out valves and valve seats.
  • Respond to work orders or room inspection reports submitted by Department Heads.
  • Respond to all emergency conditions such as fires, power failures, etc.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other employees, providing instruction and encouragement as needed.
