About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic Craftsman 1 maintains production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. This intermediate-level role involves independently or collaboratively diagnosing production machinery issues, setting up and operating machinery, keeping equipment in working condition, and reducing downtime through preventive maintenance. The mechanic communicates equipment issues to production management and works with Machine Operators to ensure machinery operates safely and properly.

The role requires meeting physical requirements, supplying all required tools, and complying with safety and project rules. Work may take place outdoors in all weather conditions, at heights that may exceed 200 feet, and in confined spaces. Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required based on workload. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
• Possess working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
• Understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
• Meet all physical requirements.
• Have all required tools.
• Be able to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces, which may exceed 200 feet.
• Be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload.

Responsibilities

• Work independently or with industry specialists to troubleshoot and diagnose production machinery problems.
• Set up, run, troubleshoot, and tear down production machinery.
• Keep designated machinery in running condition.
• Minimize downtime through effective preventive maintenance procedures and management.
• Troubleshoot machinery errors during production.
• Communicate machine issues to production management when necessary.
• Work with Machine Operators to ensure machines are running safely and properly.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
• Perform other duties as required.
