About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic B is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance (including preventative), service, and repair of machine tools, plant equipment, facilities, and buildings. This position involves handling moderately complex tasks with minimal supervision and requires the ability to complete job duties to an acceptable standard. The role includes troubleshooting, problem identification, and effective participation in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a noisy, dusty industrial/manufacturing environment and be exposed to non-toxic fumes, chemicals, grease, and oils.
  • Ability to work with machinery and moving parts.
  • Capability to operate cranes, trucks, and other motor vehicles.
  • Experience working with moving vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to properly lift, carry, push, pull, manipulate, and transport up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs, frequently lift 40 lbs, and consistently lift 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and handle physical pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Physical endurance for long periods of standing or walking on hard surfaces.
  • Exposure to bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, or similar physical activities.
  • Ability to reach high levels.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Have physical strength and ability to work more than 40 hours weekly when required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend instructions, and perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use trades math, interpret complex drawings, specifications, and utilize precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, maintain, replace, install, and test various equipment, including mechanical systems, pneumatics/hydraulic systems, facility maintenance, and welding systems.
  • Inspect equipment and diagnose issues or malfunctions.
  • Analyze equipment failures, identify causes, and make necessary repairs.
  • Operate hand tools and measuring devices for voltage and amperage.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and layouts.
  • Work with hand and power tools, as well as measuring instruments such as tapes, levels, squares, calipers, and welding equipment.
  • Assist higher-level maintenance personnel with more complex systems, machines, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Investigate & diagnose machine & equipment malfunctions, determining repairs.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, greasing, oiling, lubricating, changing oil and filters, and servicing machines and equipment.
  • Identify faulty operations, defective parts, or materials and report any concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly work environment, including tools and equipment.
  • Follow and comply with company safety and work rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
