About The Position

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency. Requirements

A valid Florida Driver’s License.
If hired with an out-of-state license a valid Florida State driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days.
Corrective Lenses Restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs with or without accommodations.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of automotive and mechanical repair work.
Knowledge of safety procedures that are required in automotive.
Knowledge of determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repairs, and maintenance.
Knowledge of procedures, equipment and tools used in automotive repair work.
Ability to use hand tools.
Ability to operate motor vehicles.
Ability to diagnosis and tune up equipment and vehicles.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

Responsibilities

Maintaining the vehicles, heavy maintenance equipment, and golf carts.
Repair automobiles, trucks, heavy equipment, and other automotive equipment.
Adjust, repair or replace clutches, generators, alternators, ignition systems, radiators, headlights and other automotive parts and equipment.
Inspect to ensure proper functioning of all vehicles and automotive equipment periodically.
Perform automotive detailing.
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all work areas are clean and free of any hazardous conditions.
Perform preventative maintenance on golf carts, tractors and lawn mowers.
Change belts and blades and ensure the mower decks are operational and hazard free.
Assist with relocation of residents’ belongings as needed and movement of furniture/equipment at Tacachale.
