About The Position

The Maintenance Technician A will ensure production equipment is operating in a safe, reliable, and optimal manner by observing all plant equipment with intent of recommending continuous equipment improvement and reliability. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be about to perform basic math functions.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Must be able to comprehend equipment manuals and instructions.
  • Must be able to expertly welding, and use power tools, and cutting equipment.
  • Must have a solid understanding of OSHA standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.
  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.
  • Must be able to safely operate forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Must be able to pass company Forklift assessments to obtain company issued Forklift license.
  • Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, PLCs, wiring devices, motor controls, VFDs, relay logic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment functions, plumbing, and mechanical systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently look for ways to improve or for ways to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all related plant equipment in a timely manner and with minimum downtime demonstrating urgency and accuracy.
  • Complete work orders, part requisitions, and preventative maintenance schedule on time and on schedule with accuracy and excellent craftsmanship.
  • Encourage good safety practice and ensure GMP are maintained within the department and promote engagement and leadership.
  • Train mechanics of lower classification and maintain a clean and safe well organize working environments for all.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship and communication with all levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products.
  • The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions.
  • Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work.
  • All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year.
  • Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.
