About The Position

This role is for a Maintenance Mechanic A in Johnstown, NY. The position is full-time, with a salary range of $24.00 - $27.00 per hour, and operates on the first shift. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for managing and troubleshooting PLCs and VFDs, overseeing the preventative maintenance schedule, and acting as the lead technical authority during equipment failures. The role involves identifying mechanical bottlenecks and implementing engineering solutions to improve machine reliability and safety.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ industrial/commercial maintenance experience, with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively communicate (both written and oral)
• Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics at basic level
• Quality orientation and high attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt
• 5+ years in industrial maintenance or a heavy mechanical/electrical field
• Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot 3-phase power, control circuits, and automation components.
• Ability to learn quickly

Nice To Haves

• Experience with welding or fabrication is a plus
• AS degree in engineering or related mechanical field

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of complex mechanical and electrical failures.
• Diagnose root causes and execute repairs with high confidence and minimal supervision.
• Manage and troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs to ensure advanced textile processing lines are operating at peak performance.
• Oversee the preventative maintenance schedule, moving beyond basic "check-ups" to true predictive maintenance that prevents downtime.
• Act as the lead technical authority during equipment failures, making high-pressure decisions to restore production safely and efficiently.
• Identify mechanical bottlenecks and implement engineering solutions to improve machine reliability and safety.
