Maintenance Mechanic A is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing and modifying all processing, packaging and facility equipment with optimal quality and efficiency. In addition, the incumbent may serve as the lead Mechanic on projects or repairs requiring multiple mechanics or span multiple shifts. As the SME for individual repair projects, the Mechanic A may provide work direction to lower level mechanics. The role involves assisting the supervisor with daily activities, distributing tasks, training, and monitoring the work of lower-level mechanics. Effective communication with Technical Support, production personnel, and other mechanics is crucial for identifying and resolving issues. The Mechanic A is expected to repair 100% of equipment without direction, perform electrical repairs and troubleshooting, assist in parts procurement and repair planning, lead complex projects and preventive maintenance, and operate the CMMS system. They must also read schematics, perform emergency repairs, support facility maintenance equipment, understand company objectives, oversee inspections and maintenance, maintain documentation, model professional conduct, support Process Improvement projects, and serve as a resource to others. Employees may be assigned temporary tasks in other areas, during which they must maintain compliance with plant policies but will not be disciplined for productivity performance. The role also includes actively supporting work team members through cross-training, new-hire assignments, and staff coverage.
