About The Position

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Maintenance Mechanic 4 at Clallam Bay Corrections Center. Clallam Bay Corrections Center is a 900-bed male facility located on the point of the Olympic Peninsula. It is 50 miles west of Port Angeles and looks out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island. This facility houses medium and close custody incarcerated individuals. CBCC also operates a Restricted Housing Unit. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Two years of journey level experience in one of the mechanical trades.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to follow and maintain all safety and security procedures, DOC polices, facility Operational Memorandums, L&I laws, EPA regulations and any other pertinent mandates or guidelines.
  • HVAC and plumbing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, supervise and train a crew of incarcerated workers engaged in maintenance, repair, replace, and modifications to buildings, mechanical equipment, machinery & motors, carpentry, plumbing, welding & fabrication, doors & locks, utilities and facilities, including laundry, kitchen, and medical facilities, HVAC, heat plant, and heavy construction equipment throughout the facility.
  • Create and maintain job descriptions for incarcerated workers.
  • Instruct incarcerated workers in safe and proper use of all hand and power tools and document training.
  • Review Service Requests (SR), inspect and determine the need for repair, maintenance, replacement, scope of work and materials needed.
  • Read plans and blueprints, inspect projects to ensure proper completion and compliance with local and state codes.
  • Document all Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Service Requests (SR) through Asset Planner.
  • Assist Management and Capitol Programs with future project and 10-year plan.
  • Ensure all tool shadow boards are accurate and daily inventory is completed and signed.
