About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic 3 (MM3) for University Recreation ( UREC ) is a senior-level, skilled trades position responsible for advanced maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of high-use recreation facilities and specialized systems. This position performs journey-level and lead-level work in multiple trades and provides technical leadership to support safe, reliable, and continuous operation of UREC facilities. The position supports complex building systems including aquatic systems, HVAC , mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure, and plays a critical role in regulatory compliance, life-safety systems, and customer service in a high-traffic environment. Additional Information: This is a full-time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $5,398 to $6,259 | Range 51 (Steps G-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 . In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and one year of journey-level experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work or equivalent education/experience.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience in building maintenance or skilled trades.
  • Journey-level experience performing skilled work in multiple trades such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC .
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair complex building and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to lead and provide technical guidance to other maintenance staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, schematics, and specifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maintaining aquatic and pool systems in a regulated environment.
  • Experience working in high-occupancy or public-use facilities such as recreation centers, athletic facilities, or similar environments.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems ( CMMS ), preferably AiM.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
