About The Position

Respond to mechanical trouble calls throughout the shift in the North Plant, assist other maintenance employees as needed, perform other mechanical, housekeeping, or project work as assigned. Additionally, it will be required to assist in the South Plant, as needed. As our Maintenance Mechanic, you will have advanced knowledge of equipment and machine controls to trace symptoms of equipment malfunction and distinguish mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures from those which are electrical or electronic. You will have the ability to interpret complex multi-view drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, manufacturers' specifications, and other technical material to isolate malfunctions in such devices as hydraulic pumps and motors, mechanical clamping devices, and electric or hydraulic axis drive and positioning systems. You will have advanced knowledge of construction and assembly techniques and the ability to manufacture replacement parts with complex configurations.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or trade school certificate in a related discipline required and/or equivalent journeyman level experience in troubleshooting and repairing production equipment
  • Computer literacy required
  • Experience in repair and root cause analysis of mechanical equipment
  • Experience in routine preventive maintenance to mechanical equipment
  • Ability to plan, layout, install, and modify equipment
  • Ability to work with vendors, contractors and other maintenance personnel on projects
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
  • Good knowledge of installation and repair of more complex equipment and machinery (including their lubricating and control systems, and power drives)
  • Ability to examine and troubleshoot to determine the extent of repairs required, materials or parts needed, and to estimate the time required to complete repairs
  • Ability to interpret and apply the requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, multi-view blueprints, and other documents in determining critical dimensions and key reference points
  • Ability to work in a self-directed team environment with limited supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to those in current position no less than 90 days
  • Ability to operate a cutting torch or welding equipment
  • Previous industrial maintenance mechanic experience
  • Advanced Journeyman level knowledge of setting up and operating machine tools such as small lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and precision grinders to manufacture component parts or re-machine existing parts
  • Advanced overhaul knowledge of DPC, Bindery, Pressroom and Support departments is preferred
