About The Position

DSHS FTAA Maintenance Mechanic 2 (On-Call) We have a great opportunity for you to join our team as an on-call, journey-level tradesperson within our Maintenance and Operations Division (MOD) at our Yakima Valley School campus. As a member of our Maintenance and Operations t eam, you will assist the maintenance shop in performing HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and repairs. We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for this on-call opportunity to join our team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • At least four years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work; or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully.
  • Must be able to communicate with professional conduct and comprehend, through oral and written forms of communication, with management, peers, clients, and the public.
  • Dress appropriately for the work to be performed including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of mechanical trades, safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry and kitchen equipment; and air­ conditioning equipment.
  • Maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution.
  • Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition.
  • Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance.
  • Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment.
  • Work from plans, sketches, or drawings.
  • Estimate materials for completion of the job.
