About The Position

The Maintenance Worker is a full-time, permanent position responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of several facilities including the Wasauksing Administration Community Complex, Gathering Center, Elders Rink/Gym, Daycare, and School portable. This role ensures these locations are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or acceptable equivalent in education and experience.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • First Aid CPR certification.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and able to take initiative.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation to work.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Ontario Driver's Class G License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain locations for safety and cleanliness, ensuring they are neat and orderly.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors as needed on a daily basis.
  • Clean floors, washrooms, and mirrors daily.
  • Empty trash, dust, and wipe down all high-traffic contact areas.
  • Clean windows and entrance doors, and shampoo carpets as required.
  • Wash walls and doors as necessary.
  • Keep the grounds outside the buildings clean, including grass mowing/cutting in the summer and clearing/salting walkways in winter.
  • Prepare purchase orders for supplies, purchase supplies, and arrange for their pickup/delivery.
  • Monitor the general condition of facilities and report needs for major repairs to the Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Foresee problems, prepare recommendations for addressing issues, and estimate costs.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule/frequency of required duties, recommending changes/additions as identified.
  • Perform minor repairs on appliances, plumbing, machinery, electrical systems, carpentry, and roofs.
  • Change filters on air conditioning equipment as per schedule.
  • Practice workplace safety at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator.
