About The Position

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic 4 for the West Region of the State Maintenance & Support Services (SMSS), a part of the Construction & Facilities Management Office (CFMO0, this position is a member of the SMSS Generator & Equipment Maintenance Shop (GEMS) and is responsible to provide journey level skills to ensure generators and SMSS-assigned equipment remain in compliance and in operational status. Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic 1.
  • High school diploma or GED, and Three years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and/or repair work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Scheduling generator and equipment inspections and repairs.
  • Maintaining fleet vehicles
  • Knowledge of: Commercial generators and maintenance equipment compliance requirements, operation, and repair.
  • Automotive maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Skills, abilities and competencies to: Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, or similar software) to develop program documents.
  • Actively demonstrate a commitment to learning and growth.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to understand and meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to accomplish regulatory compliance, preventative maintenance, and repair/replacement of assigned generators and statewide equipment.
  • Responsible to repair, restore, and/or replace components as needed to maintain safe operation of maintenance vehicles (trucks, vans, cars, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance on various automotive makes and models.
  • Troubleshoot and repair non-scheduled automotive maintenance (replace tires, charge AC refrigerant, body damage, etc.).
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose various automotive systems (electrical, engines, breaks, suspension, etc.).
  • Responsible to assist grounds and custodial crew as assigned.
