About The Position

Hexcel is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 1 for its Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. This role is crucial for maintaining advanced lightweight composite material manufacturing equipment. The position involves ensuring the proper functioning of machinery, performing repairs, and contributing to continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment. The selected individual will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing equipment or facility deficiencies, performing mechanical repairs, and acting as a millwright to ensure new and modified production equipment operates correctly. Fabrication of replacement parts, replacement of hydraulic and pneumatic parts, changing various components like bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, shafts, and cylinders, and repairing pumps are also key responsibilities. The role also includes basic pipefitting, plumbing, threading, and layout tasks. Overtime and work on weekends and holidays may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with duties commonly associated with that of a mechanic/mechanical maintenance person.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have full working set of essential mechanical tools.
  • Eligible candidate must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Degree in the area of expertise from an accredited college or technical school preferred and may substitute for 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and analyzes deficiencies in equipment or facility and makes necessary repairs.
  • Disassembles equipment as necessary and repairs or replaces faulty components as needed using a variety of hand tools.
  • Completes mechanical repairs or improvements on a variety of processes, equipment, fixtures, and unit operations.
  • Acts as a millwright by installing and assuring that new and modified production equipment is working correctly.
  • As required, fabricates replacement parts.
  • Replaces hydraulic and pneumatic parts as needed.
  • Changes bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, shafts, cylinders, and other interchangeable components.
  • Repairs and replaces all types of pumps.
  • Performs basic pipefitting, plumbing, threading, and layout.
  • Works on weekends and holidays when requested.

Benefits

  • Start rate: $34.15 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period – normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $35.95 Per Hour.
  • $1.75 per hour shift premium
