Job Purpose The Maintenance Manager supports the Superintendent in overseeing daily golf course maintenance operations. This is a working leadership role responsible for supervising the maintenance crew while actively participating in course care, irrigation support, equipment oversight, and daily setup.
Requirements
- 3+ years of golf course maintenance experience.
- Valid pesticide applicator license (required).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment safely.
- Basic computer skills for timekeeping and reporting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Nice To Haves
- 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and participate in maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs, water features, and landscaped areas.
- Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
- Monitor turf conditions and report concerns to the Superintendent.
- Prepare course for daily play and tournaments.
- Perform hands-on tasks such as mowing, spraying, fertilizing, raking bunkers, and repairing divots.
- Schedule and assign daily work to maintenance staff.
- Train new team members on equipment use and safety procedures.
- Monitor performance and provide coaching and corrective feedback when necessary.
- Conduct and document regular safety meetings.
- Ensure safe operation and basic maintenance of course equipment and golf carts.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance areas.
- Track labor hours and assist with basic reporting.
- Help monitor use of supplies, fertilizer, and chemicals.
- Maintain required regulatory records, including pesticide documentation.
- Support capital projects as directed.
