Job Purpose The Maintenance Manager supports the Superintendent in overseeing daily golf course maintenance operations. This is a working leadership role responsible for supervising the maintenance crew while actively participating in course care, irrigation support, equipment oversight, and daily setup.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of golf course maintenance experience.
  • Valid pesticide applicator license (required).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment safely.
  • Basic computer skills for timekeeping and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and participate in maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs, water features, and landscaped areas.
  • Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
  • Monitor turf conditions and report concerns to the Superintendent.
  • Prepare course for daily play and tournaments.
  • Perform hands-on tasks such as mowing, spraying, fertilizing, raking bunkers, and repairing divots.
  • Schedule and assign daily work to maintenance staff.
  • Train new team members on equipment use and safety procedures.
  • Monitor performance and provide coaching and corrective feedback when necessary.
  • Conduct and document regular safety meetings.
  • Ensure safe operation and basic maintenance of course equipment and golf carts.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance areas.
  • Track labor hours and assist with basic reporting.
  • Help monitor use of supplies, fertilizer, and chemicals.
  • Maintain required regulatory records, including pesticide documentation.
  • Support capital projects as directed.
