About The Position

The Maintenance Manager will work with all departments to ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently. They will also be responsible for and serve as the point of contact for all projects pertaining to the facility. This role involves managing a team of shift salaried supervisors and hourly associates, serving as part of the plant’s management team, and ensuring compliance with personal safety and plant quality requirements. The manager will also focus on meeting or exceeding customer service goals, managing and improving labor costs, yields, and supply usage levels, and ensuring compliance with USDA requirements for the production of fully cooked meat products. Additionally, the role involves developing salaried supervisors and hourly associates to maximize performance, analyzing situations to provide solutions in the best interest of the company, and ensuring associates adhere to all company policies. The Maintenance Manager will also manage and/or assist in capital projects, evaluate labor requirements and production rates for new business opportunities, and oversee maintenance inventory, parts, and materials. They will create and implement action items to resolve outstanding issues and minimize equipment/facility failures. Other duties may be assigned by upper management as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to legally work in the United States is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience in Facility Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Related Studies in a technical/ management discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ management experience is required.
  • Knowledgeable about OSHA and USDA regulation, health, safety, environmental regulations, lean manufacturing, process optimization, and cost management.
  • Extensive practical working knowledge of most mechanical/ electrical equipment, and systems.
  • Prior facility systems maintenance with most, but not limited to the following – Ammonia Systems, Boiler Systems, Fire Systems, Compressed Air, Electrical Distribution, etc.
  • Proven experience in building maintenance teams through training multi-craft technicians to take direction, evaluate, and be held accountable.
  • Shown experience in leading capital projects for facility and equipment systems.
  • Experience in supporting QA teams for audits - SQF preferred.
  • Experience in development of preventative/ predictive maintenance programs for CMMS, while working directly with planner/ scheduler.
  • Experience in development, budgeting, tracking, and reporting all financials relating to the maintenance department.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all projects pertaining to the facility.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of a company’s equipment and facilities.
  • Installation and repair of a building’s mechanical system as well as the upkeep of a property.
  • Develop and implement procedures/policies for effective property maintenance.
  • Hiring and directing the activities of technical and non-technical maintenance employees.
  • Oversee the delegation of tasks to maintenance personnel to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Contracting and supervision of temporary or third-party personnel to ensure duties are effectively performed.
  • Design and implement preventative maintenance programs which reduce the risk of equipment failure and maximize productivity.
  • Research to identify new and advanced equipment that will serve as better alternatives for the replacement or upgrade of worn-out machines.
  • Carry out regular inspection of building facilities to ensure they are operational and efficient.
  • Delegate the repair of a building’s electrical/heating system.
  • Oversee the management of maintenance budget, expenses, and equipment depreciation.
  • Ensure compliance with set fire/safety procedures and policies.
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary to ensure availability of required technological resources.
  • Keep accurate record of maintenance logs and provide reports to management on daily operations.
  • Ensure facility premises are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Conduct regular health and safety risk assessments to identify building/equipment hazards.
  • Ensure that all maintenance/testing operations are in accordance with acceptable standards.
  • Manage the operation consisting of shift salaried supervisors and hourly associates.
  • Serve as a part of the plant’s management team.
  • Ensure compliance with personal safety and plant quality requirements.
  • Ensure customer service goals are met and/or exceeded.
  • Manage and improve labor costs, yields, and supply usage levels.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA requirements for production of fully cooked meat products.
  • Develop salaried supervisors and hourly associates to maximize performance.
  • Analyze situations to provide solutions that are in the best interest of the company.
  • Ensure that associates are abiding by all Carl Buddig and Company policies via the “Employee Handbook and Safety Manual”.
  • Ensure that packaging/ and processing department associates are performing job duties as outlined via their individual job descriptions.
  • Manage and/or assist in capital projects throughout the project life cycle.
  • Evaluate labor requirements and production rates for potential new business opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by upper management as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance inventory, parts, and materials while working closely with MRO purchasers.
  • Create and implement action items for a clear plan to resolve outstanding issues and minimize equipment/facility failures.
