About The Position

Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager for our facility in Hanover, PA. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the maintenance and repair of all plant processing and packaging machinery and equipment to ensure uninterrupted production at our food manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with all safety, regulatory, and food quality standards while driving efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement across the maintenance function.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food or beverage industry preferred.
  • 2+ years in a leadership/supervisory role overseeing maintenance operations and personnel.
  • Hands-on knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, HVAC, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing regulatory compliance in FDA/USDA-regulated facilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Trade certifications or technical school training in maintenance disciplines strongly considered.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of plant maintenance including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on all processing and packaging equipment.
  • Develop and oversee a preventive maintenance (PM) program to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life.
  • Manage the maintenance team including hiring, training, performance management, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and sanitation teams to align maintenance activities with plant operations.
  • Ensure timely troubleshooting and repair of equipment to minimize disruption to manufacturing.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, FDA, USDA, and other regulatory bodies related to maintenance and plant operations.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of manufacturing equipment installation projects.
  • Maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for accurate tracking of work orders, inventory, and equipment history.
  • Manage maintenance spare parts inventory, labor and overtime, and spending with outside maintenance support services (machine shops, welding, and similar) all within the allocated maintenance budget.
  • Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the maintenance department.
