About The Position

The Maintenance Manager will develop and manage maintenance practices and procedures, including preventive, predictive, and repair strategies. This role involves monitoring and reporting on key maintenance metrics, leading continuous improvement projects for equipment, processes, and facilities, and managing equipment installations. The manager will also supervise and coordinate the Maintenance/Automation team, communicate maintenance activities with plant leadership, and ensure safe work practices are followed by personnel and contractors. Periodic travel between sites for training and assistance is required, along with adherence to Hutchinson’s Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with maintenance staff, outside contractors, vendors, suppliers, and personnel from other company departments.
  • Capable of supervising, directing, and training maintenance personnel.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understand the role and function of the maintenance organization in a manufacturing environment.
  • An engineering/technical degree, recognized technical expertise (licensed journeyman or master), or equivalent technical background.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in industrial maintenance or engineering.
  • Technical experience in mechanical systems, electrical systems, fluid power (pneumatic and hydraulic), and industrial controls.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills required for measurement, scheduling, and tracking metrics.
  • Good computer skills with a working knowledge of email, MS Excel, MS Word, and MVP Data Systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to define problems, draw valid conclusions, and determine a proper course of action.
  • Ability to implement necessary solutions with little or no direct supervision adhering to company policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage maintenance practices and procedures (preventive, predictive, and repair).
  • Monitor, react to, and report key maintenance metrics and indicators.
  • Develop and manage continuous improvement projects in regard to equipment, processes, and facility.
  • Management and coordination of equipment installations (new and refurbishment).
  • Management and supervision of Maintenance/Automation team personnel.
  • Coordination and communication of maintenance activities with Plant Manager and site senior staff.
  • Training and evaluation of maintenance personnel to meet current and future needs.
  • Demonstration and assurance of safe work practices by maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Travel periodically between sites for training and assistance.
  • Knowledge and practice of Hutchinson’s Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
