About The Position

The Maintenance Manager will provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act are observed by employees. This includes planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals in the PaSSE and SHARP plans. The role involves interfacing with MSHA/MOL and other governing health and safety agencies at local and federal levels, participating in daily production meetings, and preparing and implementing training plans. The manager will ensure the effectiveness of the Management System, participate in weekly scheduling meetings, and oversee maintenance modules within the CMMS/SAP system. Accurate and timely reporting of maintenance Work Orders, ensuring quality of work, and executing the daily maintenance plan are key responsibilities. The role also includes overseeing arrangements for plant operations during breakdowns, monitoring key performance indicators, providing feedback to the maintenance team, initiating solutions, and leading the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience progressive experience in mining or heavy engineering industry
  • Extensive knowledge and background in operations supply chain business processes, extensive knowledge of continuous manufacturing and production processes, knowledge and experience working contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
  • Demonstrated competency in preventative, predictive, basic care practices, and computerized maintenance management systems; strong management and Total Productive Maintenance experience; Six Sigma training is a plus
  • Proven in leading operational excellence through applying behaviour based management
  • Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills
  • Demonstrable team work and maturity with a strong work ethic
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of people management skills
  • Experience in mining and/or heavy engineering industry
  • Knowledge of continuous manufacturing business sector
  • Technical creditability as it relates to industry, with a preference on mining and kilns
  • Demonstrated ability to assess organizational and people issues, provide coaching and mentoring, and deliver solutions that improve facility performance
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply appropriate conflict management strategies to ensure conflicts are resolved to the benefit of all parties
  • Establishes and maintains highly productive working relationships across the organization with all groups within the region and the company; demonstrating respect for conflicting points of view, listens to others, and builds strong working relationships
  • Demonstrates excellent technical writing and computer skills for producing SOP, reports, and other appropriate communications

  • Demonstrates the ability to manage maintenance projects using project management methodology and techniques
  • Uses quality management skills to ensure all procedures and work activities conform to work specifications and standards

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and lead a team successfully

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Act are observed by employees. This includes planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals in the PaSSE and SHARP plans
  • Interface with MSHA/MOL and other governing health and safety agencies at local and federal level as required
  • Follow up investigations working with Safety Committee, and others as needed or applicable
  • Participate in the daily morning production meeting to communicate with production and maintenance
  • Preparation and implementation of training plans to provide employees with the necessary training to perform their job safely and effectively
  • Ensure the Management System is effective and well understood by all employees
  • Actively participate in the weekly scheduling meeting between maintenance and production
  • Ensures correct, accurate, and timely reporting of information on all maintenance Work Orders, including “Urgent Repairs”
  • Ensure maintenance personnel perform good quality work
  • Ensure the execution of the daily maintenance plan
  • Oversee necessary arrangements to keep plant running during breakdowns
  • Routinely monitor key performance indicators identifying opportunities for improvement and making appropriate supervisory and management personnel aware of the findings
  • Provide feedback to the maintenance team on goals and expectations status
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Lead the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
