About The Position

Join Vantage Specialty Chemicals as a Maintenance Manager and lead our maintenance operations to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our facilities. Drive excellence in equipment maintenance and reliability and contribute to our success in the chemical manufacturing industry. This is an in-office position that works out of the Gurnee, IL manufacturing site. Reporting to the Site Leader, the Maintenance Manager sits on the Site Leadership team. The Gurnee site is a 24/7 batch chemical manufacturing operation, sitting on 13 acres.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience with 5 years of experience in maintenance management.
Chemical manufacturing experience is a mandatory requirement.
Experience in reliability and rotating equipment
Experience with equipment used for liquid chemical processing and facility maintenance, especially rotating equipment, heat exchangers and reactors.
In-depth knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures, particularly in chemical manufacturing environments.
Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve maintenance processes.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to team members, management, and external partners.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team towards achieving common goals.
Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex maintenance issues.
High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Maintenance Plans: Create and execute maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure efficient operation of all equipment and systems.
Lead and Supervise Team: Manage a team of maintenance engineers, maintenance technicians, electricians, and parts department personnel, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards.
Foster Team Dynamics: Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Encourage open communication, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement. Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss progress, share knowledge, and address any challenges.
Establish Preventive Maintenance Programs: Implement preventive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Enhance Equipment Reliability: Apply reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and perform failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues to minimize disruptions.
Coordinate with Vendors: Manage relationships with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair services.
Ensure Safety Compliance: Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all maintenance activities.
Manage Maintenance Budget: Oversee the maintenance budget, ensuring cost control and efficient resource allocation.
Maintain Inventory Control: Keep an inventory of spare parts and supplies, ensuring availability when needed.
Prepare and Present Reports: Generate regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and performance metrics.
