About The Position

Leads and directs the maintenance operations for our ambulatory care facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position involves managing a team of maintenance staff, coordinating repair and maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with all safety and ambulatory regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facilities management, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep commitment to maintaining high standards of care in a healthcare setting. Responsibilities include infrastructure and utility management, human resource management, space allocation, regulatory compliance, and financial oversight. Activities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the Essentia Health mission and will contribute toward the overall organizational priorities and objectives. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with onsite administrator, clinical leadership, patients, co-workers, and others. Depending on the location, this role may also oversee Environmental Services (EVS), Linen, and Nutrition Services, coordinating efforts to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and service standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, facilities management, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or technical discipline. Candidate may possess an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 3 years in supervisory or management role, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) within 2 year of hire or transfer; or when eligibility is met for testing
  • Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA 2.0) Certified required within 1 year of hire of transfer

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 5 years of experience in Facilities management.
  • Certified Hospital Constructor (CHC) Certification
  • The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) Physical Environment worker education
  • Education in energy management and sustainability practices

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of maintenance staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules for all ambulatory care facilities
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements, including OSHA Joint Commission, and local building codes
  • Monitor and maintain all equipment, systems, and facilities to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Coordinate and oversee all repair and maintenance projects, including managing contractors and vendors
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and address any issues
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, asset management system, work orders, inspections, and repairs
  • Provides project review and support including Infection Control Risk Assessments, and Interim Life Safety measures tracking and monitoring
  • Actively participate in applicable healthcare engineering association
