About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered nursing care across the lifespan. Grounded in evidence-based practice, the RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and safety.

Requirements

Must have an active Alaska RN license at the time of submittal.
Case Management experience must be within the last 2 years.
Proof of flu vaccine required.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

Facilitate medical care and medication refills for Behavioural Health/Psychiatry patients, coordinating across physicians, pharmacies, and insurance providers.
Gather relevant clinical information prior to prescriber visits.
Conduct nursing evaluations, administer injections, perform lab collections, and coordinate care plans with primary and specialty providers.
Deliver evidence-based mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) nursing care and case management for outpatients of all ages.
Conduct brief patient contacts to educate, reinforce clinician directives, and identify additional nursing or case management needs.
Perform and interpret comprehensive assessments; recognize and act on changes in patient condition.
Exercise independent nursing judgment to determine actions, priorities, and escalation needs in accordance with Alaska Board of Nursing (BON) scope of practice.
Develop, evaluate, and revise individualized care plans based on patient needs, preferences, and ethics rather than relying solely on standardized protocols.
Safely administer medications and treatments per provider orders.
Maintain accountability for clinical decisions, delegated tasks, and patient care outcomes.
Coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and overall continuity of care.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Adhere to regulatory, infection prevention, and safety standards; report adverse events, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Guide, delegate to, and mentor ancillary staff, peers, and students.
Participate in quality improvement activities and float to other departments/assignments as required.
