About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered nursing care across the lifespan. Grounded in evidence-based practice, the RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and safety.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Alaska RN license at the time of submittal.
  • Case Management experience must be within the last 2 years.
  • Proof of flu vaccine required.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate medical care and medication refills for Behavioural Health/Psychiatry patients, coordinating across physicians, pharmacies, and insurance providers.
  • Gather relevant clinical information prior to prescriber visits.
  • Conduct nursing evaluations, administer injections, perform lab collections, and coordinate care plans with primary and specialty providers.
  • Deliver evidence-based mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) nursing care and case management for outpatients of all ages.
  • Conduct brief patient contacts to educate, reinforce clinician directives, and identify additional nursing or case management needs.
  • Perform and interpret comprehensive assessments; recognize and act on changes in patient condition.
  • Exercise independent nursing judgment to determine actions, priorities, and escalation needs in accordance with Alaska Board of Nursing (BON) scope of practice.
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise individualized care plans based on patient needs, preferences, and ethics rather than relying solely on standardized protocols.
  • Safely administer medications and treatments per provider orders.
  • Maintain accountability for clinical decisions, delegated tasks, and patient care outcomes.
  • Coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and overall continuity of care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Adhere to regulatory, infection prevention, and safety standards; report adverse events, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Guide, delegate to, and mentor ancillary staff, peers, and students.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and float to other departments/assignments as required.
