About The Position

Aeromotive Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Machinist to join their team in Lenexa, Kansas. This is a full-time, hourly position reporting directly to the Production Supervisor. The Maintenance Machinist is responsible for maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment, fabricating and modifying production fixtures, machining replacement parts, and supporting facility operations. This role combines industrial maintenance, machining, troubleshooting, and fabrication to ensure production equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, highly dependable, and capable of reverse engineering components and developing practical solutions with minimal direction.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience operating Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, and other machine shop equipment.
  • Ability to reverse engineer parts, fixtures, and assemblies without engineering prints or drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Experience with machining, fabrication, and fixture building.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Technical school training, machining certification, or related trade education preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of machining, maintenance, fabrication, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and motor control systems.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and perform corrective repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on all machines and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Make, modify, repair, and improve production fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids.
  • Operate manual machining equipment, including Bridgeport mills and manual lathes.
  • Fabricate replacement parts and components to support manufacturing operations.
  • Reverse engineer existing parts, fixtures, and assemblies when engineering drawings are unavailable.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately and timely.
  • Perform assigned 5S activities and support workplace organization, cleanliness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
