About The Position

ELS is hiring a Maintenance - Level I in Vero Beach, Florida. The Maintenance Worker performs a range of property maintenance duties requiring technical labor skills, including HVAC repairs and adjustments, plumbing, light carpentry and construction, appliance repair, groundskeeping, and related work. Working with the Maintenance Supervisor and other team members, this role helps ensure the community meets ELS quality maintenance standards.

The position includes maintaining clean, safe, and appealing grounds and common areas; communicating with management, staff, vendors, and other maintenance workers; performing repairs and irrigation work; and monitoring maintenance inventory and supplies. The role may require moving heavy objects, using heavy equipment, and driving maintenance trucks around the property. The employee must be willing to respond to after-hours emergencies when on call.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of direct technical work experience in applicable areas, including irrigation repairs, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with heavy equipment.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and current auto insurance.
• Willingness to be on call for after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with management to maintain a clean, safe, and appealing property.
• Attend morning staff meetings to communicate daily vendor appointments and required work.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with maintenance workers, management, and staff, and collaborate on special maintenance projects.
• Maintain grounds and common areas and keep them free from trash and debris.
• Report maintenance concerns to management and perform repairs.
• Mow, weed, edge, and otherwise maintain common areas and vacant lot grounds.
• Conduct irrigation system repairs.
• Move heavy objects and, when needed, drive maintenance trucks to locations on the property.
• Monitor and control maintenance inventory and supplies.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Be available on call for emergencies that arise after hours.
