About The Position

Perform general maintenance, repairs and cleaning of agency property. This includes performing minor plumbing repairs, general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, emptying trash, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing floors, and cleaning high touch surfaces. The role also involves furniture repair and refinishing, ensuring buildings and playgrounds comply with local codes, DPW Regulations, and Head Start Performance Standards, and assisting with lawn care, snow removal, and sidewalk treatment. The position requires responsibility for the care and storage of agency tools, performing simple carpentry tasks, and minor repairs to buildings. Additionally, the role involves completing tasks from work request forms, maintaining paperwork like monthly HVAC maintenance records, supporting the adoption of the teaching pyramid model, and creating a positive organizational culture. Other duties may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
  • Must obtain all required clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor plumbing repairs.
  • Perform general cleaning including but not limited to sweeping, emptying trash, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing floors.
  • Cleaning of high touch surfaces.
  • Perform repairs and refinishing of furniture.
  • Be aware of Head Start Performance Standards and DPW Regulations as they relate to physical plant issues.
  • Perform duties to bring buildings and playgrounds into compliance with local codes, DPW Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Assist with lawn care, snow removal and sidewalk treatment.
  • Be responsible for the care and storage of agency tools.
  • Perform simple carpentry tasks.
  • Perform minor repairs to all areas of the buildings.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Complete tasks from work request forms and return forms to supervisor.
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork such as monthly maintenance records for HVAC equipment.
  • Support the program-wide adoption of the teaching pyramid model to promote the development of young children's social-emotional competence and address challenging behavior.
  • Create and maintain a positive organizational culture by demonstrating the program-wide behavioral expectations in their social interactions with children, families, community members and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
