About The Position

The Maintenance Intern will gain valuable exposure and provide support to The Krusteaz Company's (KCO) internal operations through hands-on experience in manufacturing, maintenance, and other company sectors. This part-time role combines a work schedule at the plant with structured coursework at a partnered college, where the intern will acquire professional skills specific to manufacturing. In the "Food Processing" environment, all tasks will be conducted in compliance with Food Safety, Quality, and Food Defense standards.

  • Work the agreed-upon schedule for the part-time intern position, with the understanding that an Intern may work more hours after the first semester of coursework has been completed with an acceptable grade of C or better being maintained in all classes.
  • Required to conduct work in a safe and legal manner, according to all GMP food safety standards, as well as following safety protocols, and following all housekeeping guidelines. Must be willing to be responsible for one’s own safety and health, along with the safety and health of all employees, vendors, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Performing sheet metal fabrication, mill and lathe machining, and welding.
  • Gaining knowledge of single and three-phase power, understanding electrical control schematics, and troubleshooting control and PLC logic and hardware.
  • Developing troubleshooting skills for general food manufacturing processing and packaging equipment.
  • Learning to adhere to specific maintenance procedures regarding PMs, schedules, and documentation requirements.
  • Presenting findings and lessons learned to the team and leadership.
  • Carrying out other duties as assigned.
