About The Position

The co-op or intern supports operations by working with the Maintenance team to learn through direction from department leadership and Maintenance Technicians to complete tasks for multiple projects. This role involves assisting in research, collection, compiling, sorting, and merging of data to update outdated or incomplete information. The intern will also assist in reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine repair problems, fabricating equipment (including welding, cutting, and drilling), and completing assigned preventative maintenance tasks and projects. Communication of progress reports on maintenance work orders, entering time and components on work orders, and communicating with the Maintenance Supervisor/Trainer and other personnel are key aspects of the role. The intern will follow instructions and procedures as directed by their trainer and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and show strong initiative and ownership of ideas and projects.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to perform routine manufacturing maintenance activities.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment including maintenance related application on a microcomputer.
  • Ability to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in research and collection of data.

  • Assist in merging files to update outdated or incomplete data.
  • Assist in reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine repair problems.
  • Assist in fabricating equipment as required to include the associated welding, cutting and drilling activities.
  • Assist in the completion of assigned preventative maintenance task and projects.
  • Communicate timely progress reports on maintenance work orders.
  • Enter time and components on maintenance work orders and special projects.
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor/Trainer and other personnel as required in conjunction with maintenance and/or repair projects.
  • Follow instructions/procedures as directed by Trainer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
