About The Position

The Maintenance Intern supports the maintenance team in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment used in steel manufacturing processes. This role provides hands-on exposure to preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment inspections, and reliability improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with maintenance technicians, electricians, and engineers to learn best practices in industrial maintenance while contributing to operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2026 and be in good academic standing
  • Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance personnel in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of steel production equipment, including conveyors, motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and overhead cranes
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities by performing routine inspections and documenting findings
  • Help maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Participate in equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis under supervision
  • Assist with lubrication programs and housekeeping activities in maintenance areas
  • Observe and support mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repair activities
  • Conduct safety inspections and help ensure compliance with company safety standards and procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives aimed at reducing equipment downtime
  • Assist in inventory management of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
