About The Position

Assists in the maintenance, inspection, repair and testing of equipment and machines in the plant as well as the building’s operations system as a Maintenance Technician in training. Safety is #1 at BTD: Our expectation is that every employee: 1) strictly follows safety policies, rules and safe work methods. 2) promptly corrects or reports safety hazards or unsafe conditions. Promptly reports injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) makes regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement in safety. Actively participates in a safety process or project such as the safety committee, safety inspections, etc.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and show strong initiative and ownership of ideas and projects.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to perform routine manufacturing maintenance activities.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment including maintenance related application on a microcomputer.
  • Ability to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Direction from department leadership and Maintenance Technicians to complete tasks for multiple projects.
  • Assist in research and collection of data.
  • Assist in compiling and sorting data.
  • Assist in merging files to update outdated or incomplete data.
  • Assists in reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine repair problems.
  • Assists in fabricating equipment as required to include the associated welding, cutting and drilling activities.
  • Assists in the completion of assigned preventative maintenance task and projects.
  • Communicates timely progress reports on maintenance work orders. Enters time, components on maintenance work orders and special projects.
  • Communicates with the Maintenance Supervisor/Trainer and other personnel as required in conjunction with maintenance and/or repair projects.
  • Follows instructions/procedures as directed by Trainer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
