About The Position

Work at a journeyman level in one or more trades in the maintenance, construction, and repair of District facilities. NSBSD Pedagogy. To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent general education degree.
  • Four to five years related experience and/or training.
  • Read and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, staff, and public.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Resolve practical problems and handle a variety of non-standard situations.
  • Interpret various types of instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
  • A valid Class D Alaska Driver's License may be required.
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Lift 70 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently must stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and communicate verbally and listen.
  • Occasionally, the employee may be required to climb or balance.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Specific visual abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Keep District facilities in a neat, clean, and safe condition.
  • Assist in the maintenance and storage of District property.
  • Assist in the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of automated systems.
  • Assist in the implementation of the preventive maintenance program for the District.
  • Assist in restocking and expediting material within District facilities.
  • Report unauthorized persons and or damages to the appropriate authority as required.
  • Assist in the supervision and training of personnel as required.
  • Attend District training as required.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.
  • Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
