About The Position

The Reno Housing Authority is looking for individuals to join our maintenance team in the Asset Management Department that are passionate about the quality of their work with a desire to be part of a team that makes a difference in our community every day! Our maintenance team is responsible for the rehabilitation, repair, and preventive maintenance of the Housing Authority’s units and properties to ensure they are in safe, clean, and proper working order. As a Maintenance I you would perform general, semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties. Duties include cleaning, alterations, maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the inside and outside of housing units. Tasks involve minor plumbing, electric, lighting, painting, and wall repair, and appliance repair and installation. Communication with peers and residents to understand, diagnose, and facilitate needed maintenance and repairs. In this position you receive training and experience so may meet the minimum qualifications to advance to the journey level Maintenance II position.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience performing routine maintenance and repair work, preferably in a residential housing environment.
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License at time of appointment with an acceptable driving record throughout employment is required.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to successfully perform the work.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance duties such as; complete unit turns; minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry; appliance installation and repairs, trash outs and any other needed maintenance duties both for interior and exterior of all units and properties.
  • Performs and troubleshoots electrical repairs on items such as appliances, fixtures, switches and outlets, etc.
  • Performs and troubleshoots plumbing tasks such as clearing drains, replacing fittings, faucets and sinks, etc.
  • Patches and repairs walls as needed; replaces and repairs door hardware and screens; paints interior and exterior walls.
  • Performs maintenance services requests (work orders) and vacancy turns while accurately completing related paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Performs general landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, weeding, pruning, and sprinkler repairs.
  • Removes trash and debris from vacated units and surrounding areas.
  • Participates in unit inspections using the UPCS guidelines to determine interior and exterior repairs.
