About The Position

The Maintenance Helper, Fleet cleans and maintains building appearance and delivers pool cars and shifts City vehicles. This is an hourly position that will work a maximum of 29 hours/week.

Requirements

Ability to operate and maintain vehicles and equipment such as snowplow and forklift.
Basic math skills.
Ability to pass pre-employment fit for duty test.
Submit to Pre-employment drug test
High school diploma or GED; one to two years related experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with supervisors, coworkers, customers and citizens.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Maintains building appearance.
Operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots, sidewalks and driveways.
Performs custodial duties such as cleaning building, sweeping, scrubbing floors and emptying trash.
Delivers City vehicles to outside vendors.
Inspects vehicles in pool and performs minor maintenance such as tire repairs, checking fluids, and fueling.
