We are currently looking for a full time Maintenance Leader in our Oshawa Assembly/OEM facility General Assembly Department. In this role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for upholding GM's purpose and values and ensuring the safe work practices of all its employees. You will develop and monitor business plan objectives by managing safety, people, quality, responsiveness, cost and environment. In order to achieve these objectives, you will work with UNIFOR and Plant floor managers from all departments to motivate, train and manage your employee productivity while driving continuous improvements throughout. You will have Supervisory responsibility over a group of Hourly employees engaged in plant production operations, including Electricians and Industrial Maintenance Mechanics. Work involves the coordination of a number of operations involving the ability to make decisions within the limits of general practices and policies. Work is performed under general supervision, while exercising a high level of independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to motivate employees in a structured environment
  • Ability to work shifts and extended hours, including weekends
  • Successful completion of a University Degree, College Diploma or Trade Certificate in a technical field
  • Maintenance experience working in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Automotive Manufacturing process

Responsibilities

  • Supervise trades and assist them in achieving business objectives
  • Administer labor relations as require
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety policies and regulations
  • Manage manpower to maintain throughput and all cost objectives
  • Coordinate maintenance, tooling and engineering schedule demand in area of responsibility
  • Support ongoing throughput initiatives through Maximo PM completion and process improvements
  • Embrace Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles as they apply to maintenance organizations
  • Lead activities during equipment breakdowns
  • Plan and coordinate downtime work for Maintenance
