About The Position

The Maintenance Worker I – Grounds is an entry-level position in the Facilities Management department. The position may entail work focused on groundskeeping and the caregiver may be assigned to work in a variety of areas of focus. The Maintenance Worker I – Grounds may also have opportunities to assist with and learn general maintenance skills in a hospital setting.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of or abilities of the skills listed above
  • Willingness to work hard and to learn.
  • A valid drivers license may be required for this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the appearance, condition, and safety of facility grounds, landscaping, parking areas, irrigation systems, and related equipment to meet seasonal needs.
  • Assignments may include planting, fertilizing, clipping, pruning, mowing, blowing, weeding, shoveling snow, plowing, irrigation monitoring, and applying chemical control products.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge in landscape maintenance, including irrigation systems, and the use of insecticides and herbicides on turf, trees, and flowerbeds.
