About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the physical structures of the building and equipment, maintaining grounds and roads, and maintaining vehicles in the farm fleet. The role also assists with the movement of chicks from commercial hatcheries to the farm and with the transportation of eggs to and from commercial hatcheries. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level </= 6 attendance points and 6 months in current area unless the TM is promoting, then less than 6 months in current area is allowable.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 50 pounds to move items such as partitions, nests, tools, etc.
  • May be required to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • May be to occasionally move up to 2000 pounds such as skids of supplies, shavings, slats, etc.
  • Must regularly push or pull up to 500 pounds.
  • Must regularly stand and walk majority of shift on multiple surfaces.
  • Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects and controls.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to balance.
  • Must be able to perform climbing/ladder usage.
  • Must be able to talk or hear.
  • Must be able to stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle within the farm complex and outside.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

  • Respirator certification is and maintained by testing on an annual basis.
  • TM’s must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Preventive maintenance program for all farm vehicles and farm equipment.
  • Performs generator test runs each week.
  • House PM’s prior to flock placements.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to management.
  • Coordinates major repairs with external vendors & drives to pick up parts and supplies.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments; repairs or replaces defective parts; reports machinery defects or malfunctions to management.
  • Weekly check of propane levels and water usage.
  • Monitor formaldehyde levels.
  • Assist with monthly safety meetings and oversees completion of the items listed in the quarterly safety report.
  • Monthly fire extinguisher/emergency lighting checks.
  • Performs purchasing tasks as assigned (Creating/Receiving PO’s) processing purchases in Control Pay System, assists complex manager with Capital Construction Projects).
  • Connects electrical wiring and cables; installs lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards.
