About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the physical structures of the building and equipment, maintaining grounds and roads, and maintaining vehicles in the farm fleet. It also assists with the movement of chicks from commercial hatcheries to the farm and with the transportation of eggs to and from commercial hatcheries. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on an annual basis.
Must be able to achieve and maintain a respirator certification.
TM’s must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours.
Must use safe lifting techniques.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
May be required to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
May be required to occasionally move up to 2000 pounds.
Must regularly push or pull up to 500 pounds.
Regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift on multiple surfaces.
Must be able to reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to balance.
Must be able to climb ladders.
Must be able to talk or hear.
Must be able to stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day.
Must be able to drive a vehicle within the farm complex and outside.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
No disciplinary actions within the last 6 months.
Must follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, and Personal Protective Equipment.
Expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks.

Responsibilities

Implement and manage a preventive maintenance program for all farm vehicles and farm equipment.
Perform weekly generator test runs and house PMs prior to flock placements.
Report machinery defects or malfunctions to management.
Coordinate major repairs with external vendors and drive to pick up parts and supplies.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair or replace defective parts.
Perform weekly checks of propane levels and water usage, and monitor formaldehyde levels.
Assist with monthly safety meetings and oversee the completion of items listed in the quarterly safety report.
Conduct monthly fire extinguisher/emergency lighting checks.
Perform purchasing tasks, including creating/receiving POs and processing purchases in the Control Pay System.
Assist the complex manager with Capital Construction Projects.
Connect electrical wiring and cables; install lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards.
Maintain respirator certification through annual testing.
Adhere to biosecurity/animal welfare/safety requirements, including showering and changing clothing before entering the facility.
Sign an agreement to avoid any avian species and abide by Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines.
