About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role involves responding to mechanical or electrical breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and assisting with other mechanics as needed. The work environment can vary in temperature, with potential for dust, heat, cold, and humidity. Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing ladders, lifts, and scaffolds, as well as pushing, pulling, stooping, and lifting up to 70lbs. Safety toe boots with 75lbs. resistance are required.

Requirements

  • 2 years prior industrial maintenance experience, experience with Tyson maintenance department, or possess industrial maintenance diploma or currently enrolled in technical school in lieu of experience.
  • Previous poultry processing experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge in Word and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical.
  • Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
  • Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction.
  • Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
  • Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and reports.
  • Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
  • Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
  • Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision.
  • Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
