About The Position

This position is a discretionary position responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment throughout the plant. This role is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of mechanic work experience documented in the work history section of the application or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program (can be a combination of employers as long as experience is at least 6 months).
  • Ability and willingness to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level minimum of 40 pounds frequently.
  • Ability and willingness to use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to reach high and low levels, frequently.
  • Ability and willingness to stand/stoop/walk/bend up to 10 hours.
  • Ability and willingness to climb stairs.
  • Ability and willingness to work in wet conditions and cold temperatures at 10 degrees.

  • Team members who bid on and receive a posted job, must stay on that job for twelve (12) months from the date the Team Member is notified by the Company of the successful bid.
  • Team members may, however, bid on jobs six (6) months after the Team Member is notified.
  • Should no Team Member with twelve (12) months on the job bid for an opening, the Team Member with at least six (6) months on the job who bid for that opening will be considered for the opening.
  • Transfers from labor grades 5 through 8 require Company approval if the requesting Team Member has less than twelve (12) months on the job.
  • The six (6) and twelve (12) month bar to job bidding shall not apply where a Team Member’s job has been eliminated.

Responsibilities

  • Complete preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Install and maintain hydraulic equipment, pumps, motors, and cylinders.
  • Install and maintain utility equipment including, but not limited to, boilers, compressors, HVAC systems, and cooling towers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical or mechanical equipment.
  • Change out and setup equipment.
  • Complete prefabrication related tasks and run machine shop equipment.
  • Perform basic math functions (i.e.: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
  • Work on demand in emergency situations.
  • Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Complete all paperwork CMMS/SAP functions.
  • Keep all work areas clean.
  • Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF requirements.
  • Perform all positions of job rotation as needed.
  • Perform any other work as assigned by management.
