About The Position

This position is responsible for general maintenance throughout the plant while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Requirements

Must be able to use basic hand tools.
Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing
1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance
Able to read & understand assignments
Able to communicate orally & in writing
Able to hear/respond to two-way radio
Able to lift 50 pounds
Climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
Able to stand for long periods of time
Withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors
Basic knowledge of math
Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment
Must have at least 1 year of maintenance/mechanical experience
Must have 6 months of continuous employment in the last 2 years.
Must be certified to operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts.
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Prefer individual be respirator qualified.
Willing to further education by outside training, company testing program & vendor training.

Responsibilities

To maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture
Receive training as required
Perform various positions as required/assigned
Perform duties such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing, replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems.
May monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler.
May be required to read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems.
Performs duties such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing, replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
