About The Position

Maintenance Generalists are responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This role involves responding to mechanical or electrical breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment is operational before production startup and shutdown. The work environment can involve varying temperatures, dust, and humidity. The position also includes janitorial services if needed and other assigned duties. The jobsite is biosecure and may require showering and changing clothes before entering the facility. Specific agreements regarding avian species and biosecurity/animal welfare guidelines must be signed.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of Maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2-year requirement.
Must list job experience related to work history, skills, and education information on application.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical.
Must be willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments.
Must be able to perform all duties of the position.
Willing to stand 8-10 hours a day.
Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard.
Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator’s license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessary.
Ability to understand technical mechanical concepts.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong organization skills.
Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry.
Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Will be trained to recognize and comply with all Safety procedures.

Work in temperature that will vary with outside ambient temperatures and humidity. It can be dusty, warm, and humid.
This position will require standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders.
Position may involve heavy lifting 50-70 lbs. or more.
Willing to reach above shoulder level.

Responsibilities

Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets.
Providing troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction.
Preparing written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
Responding to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handling emergency situations.
Lubricating equipment with various grease and oils.
Performing preventive maintenance according to schedule.
Completing appropriate paperwork and reports.
Complying with lockout/tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
Performing mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
Diagnosing and repairing equipment without supervision.
Starting all equipment before production startup and shutting down without supervision.
Assisting with other mechanics as needed.
Performing janitorial services if needed.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Completing all required training for the job.
