About The Position

Maintenance Generalists are responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This role involves responding to mechanical or electrical breakdowns, handling emergency situations, lubricating equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and completing appropriate paperwork. The position requires compliance with safety programs such as lockout/tagout and confined space entry. The work environment can be dusty, warm, and humid, with temperatures varying with outside conditions. The role also includes performing janitorial services if needed and other assigned duties. The company provides training for the job and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2 year requirement
  • Must list job experience related to work history, skills, and education information on application
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical
  • Must be able to perform all duties of the position
  • Ability to understand technical mechanical concepts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Will be trained to recognize and comply with all Safety procedures
  • Must be actively working during application process (for internal candidates)
  • Must have satisfactorily completed probationary period (for internal candidates)
  • Must have (7) or less attendance points (for internal candidates)
  • No written warnings within the previous six (6) months (for internal candidates)
  • No written warning with suspensions within the previous twelve (12) months (for internal candidates)

Nice To Haves

  • Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator’s license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessary

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction
  • Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems
  • Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations
  • Lubricate equipment with various grease and oils
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and reports
  • Comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs
  • Perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs
  • Perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision
  • Assist with other mechanics as needed
  • Perform janitorial services if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
