About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role involves monitoring equipment during production, making necessary repairs or adjustments, performing preventive maintenance, and rebuilding equipment as required. The Maintenance Generalist will also assist with installations and maintenance throughout the facility, including greasing, oil changes, and cleaning plant equipment. This role requires monitoring equipment and computer boards, troubleshooting mechanical problems using schematics and blueprints, and potentially working other shifts when necessary. Adherence to safety rules like Lockout/Tagout and OSHA standards is mandatory. The position requires close collaboration with other maintenance personnel and the ability to work with fragile devices requiring precise attention. All other duties as requested by the supervisor will also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 3 months of maintenance experience.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Capable of moving equipment, machinery, etc., in excess of 40 pounds when needed.
  • Ability to work on and inspect equipment, which may involve bending, turning, stooping, twisting, and climbing.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the plant over and around equipment, people and other obstacles.
  • Ability to tolerate climates ranging from very cold to very hot and from very wet to very dry.
  • Ability to communicate and get along well with others.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to reach, lift and work overhead.
  • Ability to walk, stand or sit for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to complete mandatory online training.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Minimum waiting period of 180 days for rehire.
  • Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Tyson Foods for rehire.
  • Enrollment in a maintenance / mechanical program can be considered in lieu of experience.

  • Manually greasing, changing oil, and cleaning various plant equipment.
  • Monitoring equipment and computer boards.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical problems using detailed schematics and blueprints.
  • Working other shifts when necessary.
  • Understanding and agreeing to follow Safety Rules (e.g., Lockout/Tagout).
  • Complying with OSHA standards.
  • Working closely with other maintenance personnel.
  • Working with other devices that are very fragile and require precise attention.
  • Performing all other duties as requested by the supervisor.
