About The Position

As a Maintenance Foreman at GS Construction, you take a project from construction completion to municipal acceptance, leading a focused crew through the detailed work that gets sites ready for CCC and FAC inspections. You know municipal water and sewer infrastructure inside and out, you're comfortable reading as-builts and coordinating directly with inspectors and engineers, and you take ownership of every deficiency until it's closed. Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in municipal water and sewer installation, maintenance, or rehabilitation.
  • Previous supervisory or foreman experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of CCC/FAC inspection processes and municipal turnover requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and as-builts.
  • Knowledge of Alberta OH&S regulations and safe work practices.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid, CSTS, Ground Disturbance, and Confined Space certifications are considered assets.
  • Experience with CCTV inspections, hydrant testing, valve operations, and flushing is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead your crew in preparing municipal water and sewer infrastructure sites for Construction Completion Certificate and Final Acceptance Certificate inspections.
  • Inspect and evaluate site conditions to confirm readiness for upcoming inspections, identifying gaps before they become delays.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and verify corrective work based on municipal deficiency lists, taking ownership of each item through to final completion and sign-off.
  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance, repair, and corrective work on underground water and sewer systems including valves, hydrants, services, manholes, and surface deficiencies.
  • Perform pressure testing, chlorination, flushing, and commissioning activities for water infrastructure in accordance with municipal specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Safely operate compactors, pumps, generators, skid steers, and hand tools required for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with municipal standards, approved drawings, and project specifications.
  • Lead and mentor a small, focused crew, setting the standard for safe, efficient, and high-quality work on every site.
  • Enforce safety protocols on site, participate in safety meetings, and ensure your team is protected throughout each project phase.
  • Liaise with superintendents, project managers, engineers, and municipal inspectors to ensure compliance and site readiness.
  • Maintain accurate records of deficiencies, completed repairs, testing results, daily activities, and inspection updates using field reporting systems and project documentation processes.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, identify practical repair solutions, and make field decisions that support efficient project completion and municipal approval.
