About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Tech Level 5 is responsible for resolving any facility-related problems and identifying and correcting root causes. This associate acts as a mentor to other technicians, coordinating and facilitating tasks and projects within their department. They communicate effectively and independently with the plant leadership team, providing updates on equipment status through various channels, including setting up and running meetings and following up on action items. This associate has a deep understanding of their contributions to customer success and departmental goals. They exhibit strong communication skills, work effectively with cross-functional teams, and are a recognized resource for both the plant and the company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years of applicable maintenance experience.
  • 2-year technical degree is equivalent to 1 year experience.
  • 4-year degree is equivalent to 2 years' experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to operate and successfully complete the Swagelok internal Powered Industrial Equipment training.

Responsibilities

  • Operates powered industrial equipment such as scissor lift, forklift, floor scrubber, overhead crane and hoist.
  • Tests Building Fire Suppression System and performs monthly extinguisher inspections.
  • Submits supply orders.
  • Understands contractor management and provides safety and policy oversight to contractors.
  • Provides luncheon and meeting set up support.
  • Is knowledgeable about and follows confined space requirements.
  • Trains other facility maintenance associates on Swagelok policies and procedures.
  • Supports, applies, and encourages compliance with security and emergency related systems.
  • Diagnoses and corrects HVAC systems.
  • Makes recommendations to Contractor Management policies.
  • Designs carpentry and sheet metal work.
  • Completes large electrical, welding and millwork projects without assistance.
  • Assists in establishing LEAN standards.
  • Has become proficient and knowledgeable in Environmental and Safety guidelines.
  • Experienced in basic fabrication, electrical, and pipe fitting.
  • Understands change management guidelines (SIS).
  • Accurately records processes and procedures.
  • Intermediate user of Tabware.
  • Reads electrical prints and replaces contacts, fuses, motors and relays with minimal assistance.
  • Leads shift start-up meetings.
  • Can implement long term solutions for Blueprint problems.
  • Authorized to train LO/TO.
  • Writes or recommends changes to standard work, such as lockout / tag out, compressed gas, and proper fall protection programs based on changing requirements and needs.
  • Understands and advocates change management guidelines (SIS).
  • Orders, inspects, and trains on Compressed Gas policies.
  • Trains on Proper Fall Protection policies.
  • Compares, selects, and validates contractor quotes, determines the need for contractors, compares, selects, and validates quotes, schedules jobs, follows up as needed, and verifies completion.
  • Well versed in facilities security systems, plant alarms, PA systems. Has knowledge of other systems within the organization as well as new technology that is available.
  • Has been trained to deal with high-pressure plumbing drops and offers solutions for the system's design.
  • Subject matter expert for all time-related systems: time clocks, buzzers, shop clocks, timer systems.
  • Capable of diagnosing problems relating to maintenance equipment such as compressors, dryers, chillers, DI water, fire pumps, and generators.
  • Coordinates execution of large projects.
  • Advance user of Tabware.
  • Authorized to sign off on job completion.
  • Can determine rigging handled by an outside contractor versus rigging handled by internal maintenance.
  • Completes electrical troubleshooting, investigates, looks at alternatives, and writes Capital Equipment Project Methodology (CEPM) for Management approval.
  • Based on customer need, designs and fabricates solutions.
  • Has an understanding of the lean toolbox (i.e. 5S, CEDAC, Standard Work, etc.).
