About The Position

The SK Food Group, established in 1943, is a leader in the food manufacturing and wholesale food sales industry. We produce a complete line of products for many different market segments including retail, convenience stores, vending and the transportation industry. In addition, we pride ourselves on the sub-contract manufacturing and private labeling capabilities our company offers to customers throughout the United States. We are looking for a Maintenance Facilities Lead to join our team in Tolleson, AZ. Reporting to the Maintenance Systems Manager. This role is responsible for maintaining, adjusting, and repairing facility grounds as needed. It also involves monitoring and reporting issues with facility industrial equipment such as Compressors, Cooling towers, and air units. The position requires monitoring and maintaining plant machinery to meet industry standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies including USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, Local Government, independent auditors, and the company’s own stated quality standards. Tasks are to be performed at a journeyman’s skill level.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Certificate from a college or technical trade school in Industrial Fabrication, Industrial Electrical, Machining or Millwright Program and at least five years of applicable industrial work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain certificate showing the knowledge and ability to manage an Ammonia system.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams
  • Ability to read machine drawings
  • Advanced understanding of Fluid mechanics (hydraulics & pneumatics)
  • Extensive experience with precision tools such as micrometers, Vernier & dial calipers, dial indicators, levels, gauge blocks.
  • Able to work effectively in the following environments: cold, hot, wet, high areas.
  • Able to climb ladders and walk along elevated cat walks in confined spaces.
  • Training on Good Manufacturing Practices critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency.
  • Training on how to identify food safety issues such as temperature control, cross-contamination, sanitation and cleanliness of the lines, etc., critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for shift oversight/work coordination responsibilities.
  • Monitor and delegate work to associates assigned to work on facilities and grounds.
  • Inspect building grounds and other structures to determine functionality and detect malfunctions and needed repairs using a pre-established check sheet.
  • Maintain maintenance records and PM schedules for all industrial equipment and facilities grounds.
  • Maintain the material integrity of the refrigeration and utility rooms in accordance with best practices.
  • Learn the daily system checks for monitoring the ammonia system, along with filling out required documentation.
  • Complete daily rounds and inspections of Temperature and condition of Ammonia System.
  • Perform, or be capable of learning, ammonia system pump downs for repairing / replacing ammonia refrigeration parts.
  • Locate critical spares in the market for those items not in inventory.
  • Implement factory recommended equipment maintenance schedules and develop schedules for areas where none exist.
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
  • Perform minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
  • Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Prepare the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
  • Coordinate with 3rd party Service providers to meet critical timelines for equipment care and upkeep.
  • Train and Coach associates on technical and procedural duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
