About The Position

The Maintenance Fabricator position involves maintaining, reconditioning, and repairing tools, fixtures, and related equipment. Will be required to fabricate assemblies from work orders, detailed prints, sketches, and other instructions. Will be required to set up, program, and operate a wide variety of machine tools and equipment, including CNC machinery. Must have the ability to work with very close tolerances. Must be able to work with and demonstrate proficiency with all types of conventional machine tools and a variety of precision measuring instruments and equipment. Must have a good mechanical and machine tool background and aptitude. As required, must be able to learn and demonstrate proficiency on CNC equipment. Must be able to perform critical machine tool operations to close tolerances required by prints. Must be able to understand detailed prints, sketches, written and verbal instructions and visualize what is required. Occasionally, may be required to work without benefit of complete information on drawings and sketches. A strong understanding and/or training in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is preferred. Must be able to use hand and power tools correctly. Must be familiar and cognizant of safety guidelines throughout the company. Must be able to run a forklift and secure a forklift license if required. Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, technical and service bulletins; product specifications; and other standard operating procedures. Must be proficient in the use of various measuring tools and equipment unique to the job i.e. micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and other inspection equipment. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as they will interact with other departments, professional staff and management of the company. Must be able to work with limited supervision and show/demonstrate initiative, teamwork, tact, good judgment and sound reasoning. Must be able to complete projects within a defined schedule. Must be able to handle the physical requirements of the position. Must have neat and legible handwriting. The ability to perform basic welding is preferred. Will perform other related duties as directed by supervision. Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics and other drawings. Must be able to program and operate CNC machining equipment. Requires knowledge and use of ordinary hand tools as well as special measuring devices. Requires strong mechanical and machine-tool aptitude and general knowledge of the skilled trades. An Associate's degree in machine tool technology or tool and die, or the equivalent work experience, is preferred, but not required. Will set up and operate CNC machining equipment, including mills, grinders, lathes, saws, and ovens.
