About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer (Entry-Level or Associate) to join the Maintenance Engineering organization in Seal Beach, CA. Position Overview: Maintenance Engineering is an organization responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving aircraft maintenance programs and technical instructions to ensure safe, compliant, and cost‑effective operations. The organization’s scope includes creating and revising scheduled maintenance tasks, maintaining configuration and technical documentation, supporting troubleshooting and corrective actions, and analyzing reliability and operational data to identify trends and drive improvements. Maintenance Engineering translates operational feedback and airworthiness requirements into practical maintenance solutions while balancing safety, readiness, and lifecycle cost considerations. Maintenance Engineering operates across the entire product lifecycle — from design and certification handoff through in‑service support — and collaborates closely with operators, suppliers, airworthiness authorities, and internal stakeholders. Key organizational responsibilities include risk assessment and mitigation, development of inspection and repair procedures, sustaining engineering for continued airworthiness, implementation of maintenance tooling and data management systems, and contributing to training and maintenance planning to ensure consistent field execution. Our organization is hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Entry Level or Associate Level Engineers. Candidates may be placed in one of the following teams based on business needs and background: Maintenance Programs Engineering: Supports the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of aircraft maintenance programs and technical publications, including task cards, scheduled requirements, and repair procedures, while ensuring compliance with Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and regulatory authorities (e.g., FAA). The role analyzes maintenance data to identify trends and root causes, collaborates with engineering and customers to develop technical solutions and enhancements, conducts engineering verifications, and participates in industry and continuous improvement activities. Airplane Maintenance Engineering Analyzes engineering designs and design changes to define maintenance requirements, procedures, and instructions; supports design activities to ensure supportability and maintainability; develops system theory descriptions to ensure common understanding of systems and components; conducts engineering analysis to verify maintenance data; provides technical solutions, customer support, and maintenance documentation updates. Retrofit Engineering Analyzes, integrates, and manages engineering design changes and Service Bulletins to amend the airplane Type Design and maintain continued airworthiness. Develops modification kits and installation procedures, provides certification support, and frequently travels to customer modification sites to provide on‑site implementation and respond to customer and design queries. Component Maintenance Engineering Develops and maintains component repair, overhaul, and Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) information used by operators for off‑wing component maintenance. Creates validated repair procedures and tooling specifications, supports troubleshooting and root‑cause investigations, and sustains component‑level airworthiness and reliability. Maintenance Ground Operations Support Designs and sustains Boeing‑designed ground support equipment and tooling for servicing, maintenance, and overhaul of commercial airplanes, and provides technical solutions to airline customers. Delivers practical ground‑handling workflows, ground support equipment recommendations, and operational support to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant field maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
