About The Position

The site maintenance mechanic repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. This role requires a working knowledge of and experience in plant maintenance operations and involves being an active part of the emergency response team. The position also includes handling chemicals, chemical testing, daily utilities reading, ordering and maintaining inventories for parts, fabrication and manufacturing of equipment, and documenting schematic and diagram changes. The role requires working with minimal supervision, caring for supplied tools, reporting daily on work orders and activities, and coaching/training teammates.

  • Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two-hour consecutive time period and up to 8-12 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be able to carry 60 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Must frequently push and pull up to, but not limited to, 60 pounds in a repetitive manner.
  • Must bend and stoop often.
  • Will sometimes squat.
  • Will often twist and turn while carrying.
  • Will occasionally climb and/or balance.
  • Will frequently reach in a repetitive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair all production equipment, including pumps, pasteurizers, atomizers, evaporators, dryers, valves, baggers, robots, etc.
  • Maintain and repair all support equipment, including boilers, air compressors, ammonia compressors, thermal storage units, condensers, vacuum pumps, ammonia systems, air conditioning units, sewer meters, conductivity meters, and water meters.
  • Be an active part of the emergency response team, including evacuation, personnel rescue, hazardous waste response/disposal, confined space entry/observation, and first aid/CPR.
  • Handle chemicals for support equipment operation.
  • Perform chemical testing of boiler feed water, condensate, cooling tower water, ice bank chilled water, and plant process water.
  • Take daily utilities readings.
  • Order and maintain inventories for all parts to service all plant equipment.
  • Fabricate and manufacture equipment for production needs, including product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, and pneumatic lines, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Document all schematic and diagram changes to keep plant records current.
  • Work with a minimum amount of supervision in all key areas.
  • Take care of and safeguard tools supplied by CDI.
  • Report on a daily basis work orders and activity reports, ensuring all time is accounted for.
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Coach and train teammates and participate in on-the-job, buddy training.
  • Follow all company policies.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
